The Sims Online, reborn.
Open Alpha
A modernized, community-run revival of The Sims Online — built on FreeSO. Buy a lot, build a home, meet your neighbors. Free, fair, and never pay-to-win.
The Sims Online as a living game again — polished, welcoming, and fair.
No paid items, no donations for perks, no advantages for money. Everyone plays on the same field.
Active moderation, a friendly Discord, and regular events that give you a reason to come back.
A rebuilt Create-A-Sim with a rotatable perspective view of your sim, proper tabs, and thumbnails you can actually see.
Current .NET and upstream MonoGame, a rewritten network layer with optional TLS encryption, and builds for Windows, macOS and Linux on every change.
The game engine now has a dynamic frame rate that can match your full hardware capability. Optimizations improve GPU efficiency in 3D mode.
A post processing stack for 3D mode with FXAA/SMAA/TAA and upscaling, motion blur and bloom. Scale the render resolution down to fit modest hardware, or up to supersample.
A native launcher — no Electron, no browser bundled inside it. Live server status, and incremental patches that download only what changed.
Public code and public builds — anyone can verify what they're running. No scams, no mystery binaries.
Signups are open right now. Anyone can create an account, download the client, and play today.
The open alpha is a testing stage, not the real thing. It's where we find out what breaks with people actually playing, and everything you do in it helps us get to a beta worth launching. When the public beta arrives, the world will be wiped and reset — sims, lots, houses and simoleons all start fresh. Build, decorate and experiment freely, just don't get too attached.
Three steps and you're in the city.
Chat, get help, find lots to visit, and hear about events first. Our Discord is the community hub for OpenSO — come say hi.
